INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUES (Grades Kindergarten-3rd)

The Instructional League for Spring 2015 will feature four divisions by individual grade.

Kindergarten games will be T-Ball games with coach pitch introduced at the end of the season.  Outs will not be recorded, players will remain on base whether safe or out and all players will bat.

1st graders will play under slightly modified rules beginning with T-ball and progressing to coach pitch at mid-season. Outs will not be recorded, players will remain on base whether safe or out and all players will bat.

2nd graders will play under coach pitch for the entire season. Outs will be recorded and executed (runner does not remain on base if out), but everyone still bats.

3rd graders will play under modified in-town competitive league rules. The modified rules will begin with coach pitch with a gradual evolution to player/coach pitch in a “simulated” competitive game.  Game scores will be kept announcing winners and losers of each game.

All Instructional League games will be played on Saturdays.  Kindergarteners and 1st graders will play at McKinley & Wilson School at 9am, 11am, 1pm, or 3pm.  2nd and 3rd graders will play at Memorial and Tamaques at 1pm or 3:30pm.  Practices are held on a weeknight once a week.

NATIONAL LEAGUE (Grades 4th & 5th)
One division that will play according to the established In-Town rules.
NL games are played on Thursday evenings at 6pm and on Saturday mornings at 9am.

AMERICAN LEAGUE (Grades 6th, 7th and 8th)

AL games are played on Monday evenings at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 11am.

On time player registration will close on January 31, 2015.  A $25 late fee will be applied for all registrations received after this date.  Sponsors may sign up for team sponsorships until February 15, 2015.

As a reminder while the lightning alarm system works at Memorial Pool after 8 pm the siren will not sound.  Only the warning strobe operates.

Always check here for updates, including weather related cancellations.  For updates on the status of Union County Park fields, please call the Union County hot line on 908-352-8410. The Park Commission posts field updates at 2:00 pm.

WEATHER ADVISORY
The Town of Westfield relies on a lightning detection system to automatically activate Siren Stations to warn people at various locations when lightning is detected within 10 miles.
Lighting Alarm:
Wave Siren Stations sound a “Horn-Siren-Horn-Siren” audible tone for about 12 seconds. The Strobe Light attached to the Siren Station then illuminates to indicate that a Lightning Alarm condition exists.
Lightning All-Clear:
The All-Clear sounds when no lightning is detected for 30 minutes within 10 miles of the lightning detection sensor. Wave Siren Stations sound a “Horn Intermittent” audible tone for about 12 seconds. The Strobe Light attached to the Siren Station then extinguishes.
Some, but not all fields are equipped with lightning alarms. All players, coaches, and parents must clear the fields immediately when lightning is detected. Fields must be cleared if lightning or thunder is observed, even if the alarm does not sound.
Carry-on, Carry-off!

Help us keep our fields Safe and Clean

Whatever items you carry-on to the fields you must carry-off the fields. Players, parents and coaches, you must pick up and carry off all your trash before leaving the field and place it in the garbage containers or recycle it.
