GSLW Softball activities suspended until April 1st.

The GSLW Board has decided to temporarily suspend any softball activities through April 1st.  While we understand there will be impacts to some softball activities (winter trainings, clinics, RUTGERS trainings, practices and league drafts, etc.), we feel it provides enough time to ensure an informed approach heading into the start of the season when field will potentially open.

GSLW Softball Activities Suspended Until April 1st

The safety of our players has and continues to be a leading priority for our league, whether on the field or off of it.  In consultation with both the Westfield Recreation Commission and USA Softball regarding the response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the GSLW Board has decided to temporarily suspend any softball activities through April 1st.  While we understand there will be impacts to some softball activities (winter trainings, clinics, RUTGERS trainings, practices and league drafts, etc.), we feel it provides enough time to ensure an informed approach heading into the start of the season when field will potentially open.

We are committed to providing any new updates to our players, families and volunteers and will send out further information towards the end of March when we are able to reassess the situation and impacts to our programs.  In the meantime, we will be working with our Travel and Recreation league directors and coaches to prepare to begin the season as soon as it is appropriate.  Until then, we will be closely monitoring information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the NJ Department of Health and recommend our families do as well.

If you have questions feel free to reach out to me or any other member of the GSLW Board.

Be safe,

Rob Zerafa
